NUMBER OF LIVESTOCK SLAUGHTERED

Livestock slaughtering quarterly trend movements for June 2014:

Cattle (excluding calves):
The number of cattle slaughtered (excluding calves) increased by less than 1% to 2.2 million.

Calves:
The number of calves slaughtered rose by 1%, to 186,000 head.

Sheep:
The number of sheep slaughtered increased by 2% to 2.6 million head.

Lambs:
Lamb slaughterings decreased by less than 1% to 5.4 million.

Pigs:
Pig slaughterings remained steady at 1.2 million.

Chickens:
Chicken slaughterings remained steady at 146 million.
